ROANOKE RED CROSS CHAPTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
Nov 9, 2012 - Nov 10, 2012
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the massive deployment of our Disaster Volunteers, we need help to cover weekend events that will promote the Red Cross progams and also raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
On Friday, we need two volunteers who can help load supplies and equipment for the Virginia's Veterans parade on Saturday. Volunteers should be able to lift at least 15 pounds. Volunteers would need to arrive at the Roanoke Valley Chapter at 10:00 a.m. and plan to work at least until 1:00 p.m.
We also need marchers for the Virginia's Veterans Parade. All volunteers should report to the Roanoke Valley Chapter, 352 Church Avenue SW, Roanoke, Virginia 24016 at 9:00 a.m. The parade steps off at 11:00 p.m. and should conclude by 1:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to include your friends, family members and business associates in this salute to those who served our country.
Also, on Saturday immediately following the Virginia's Veterans parade, there will be a benefit concert to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The bands are: The Fat Daddy Band, Radar Rose, and Red Weather. They will run 1-4 or 1:30-4:30 with each band having a 1 hour set. The event will be on Marketsquare in Downtown Roanoke. For this event, we need volunteers to wear Red Cross vests, work the crowd and collect gifts in Red Cross buckets, staff an info table there to share updates on our work, and provide envelopes for anyone who wants to mail in a gift later.
If you are available to help with any of these events, please respond to this email. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesistate to let me know.
Thank you for your consideration of these volunteer opportunities.
