LOOK3 is proud to announce the featured INsight Artists for 2013:

Gregory Crewdson, Susan Meiselas, Richard Misrach, Michael Nichols, Josef Koudelka, and Carrie Mae

Weems. The 2013 TREES Artist is Tim Laman. The 2013 Festival is curated by Melissa Harris (Editor-in-

Chief, Aperture Foundation) and Yolanda Cuomo (Creative Director, Yolanda Cuomo Design).

LOOK3 will celebrate and honor the careers of this year’s INsight Artists with solo gallery exhibitions and

on-stage INsight Conversations at the Paramount Theater. These intimate artist interviews provide a rare

opportunity to hear photographic legends speak candidly about their influences, processes, and

inspirations. Booksigning receptions will follow each talk. Gallery exhibitions are free and open to the

public from June 7-29, unless otherwise noted.

The annual TREES exhibit is a hallmark of the LOOK3 Festival with photographic banners suspended high

in the trees along Charlottesville’s outdoor pedestrian mall. The 2013 TREES exhibit will feature the most

recent work of National Geographic photographer Tim Laman, who has spent a decade documenting

every known species of the Birds-of-Paradise. Laman will give a pre-Festival TREES Conservation Talk on

Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30pmin the Paramount Theater.

Education Week will be an intense five-day experience that is one part short course, one part portfolio

review, and one part world-class photography festival. Students will have the opportunity to attend

professional and creative courses with renowned photographers, editors, and media professionals, such as

Mary Virginia Swanson (Art Consultant), Alex Chadwick (NPR), Bruce Strong (Multimedia Storyteller), Staci

MacKenzie (Doyle Partners), Jessie Wender (The New Yorker), Sasha Wolf (SashaWolfGallery), Pamela

Chen (National Geographic magazine), Denise Wolff (Aperture), and Todd Hido (Photographer). Portfolio
