Join the Sierra Club for a beautiful hike in AlbemarleCounty's newest park.
Saturday, May 4: Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve approximately four-mile loop in northwestern AlbemarleCounty, with an elevation gain/loss of about 1200 feet. Meet at BarracksRoadShopping Center(Panera Bread) at 10:00 a.m.to carpool or at the trailhead at 11:00 a.m.The trailhead address is 6610 Blackwells Hollow Road, Crozet. Directions to the trailhead: From Charlottesville, follow Barracks Road(which turns into Garth Road) to the Piedmont Store in Whitehall. Go around the curve to the right onto Route 810 (not straight up to Sugar Hollow) and follow 810 for 7.8 miles to the parking area on the left. Allow approximately 45 minutes from Charlottesville.
From western NelsonCountyor the Shenandoah Valley, take I-64 to the Crozet exit and turn right onto 250 OR take 250 toward Charlottesvilleand pass the entrance ramps to I-64. In about a mile, turn left onto Rt. 240 (Crozet Ave.) towards Crozet. Continue on 810 to Whitehalland follow the directions above.
Pets are not permitted on Blue Ridge Group outings, nor are they by the Piedmont Group for this hike.
