EPILEPSY STROLL

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month and EFVA is celebrating with the November Stroll for Epilepsy. By participating in the Charlottesville Stroll, you are giving a voice to those 80,000 Virginians diagnosed with epilepsy.

The walk is non-competitive and approximately 2 miles. Participants can walk individually, however we encourage teams of friends, family members, neighbors, and co-workers.

FACTS:

• Epilepsy is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease combined.
• 1 in 100 people have been diagnosed with epilepsy
• 80,000 in Virginiaalone
• 30 percent of those with epilepsy are under 18 years old; with 20 percent of cases developing before the age of 5
• There are as many cases of epilepsy in those 60 years of age and older as in children under 10 years old.
