The Fluvanna SPCA, a no-kill shelter in Troy, Virginia, is pleased to announce events designed to promote and increase responsible pet ownership at low cost to pet owners and prospective adopters this weekend.
A microchipping clinic will be held Saturday, September 7 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Fluvanna SPCA, 5239 Union Mills Road in Troy. For only $25 to include lifetime registration fees, pet owners can have their pets implanted with a Home Again microchip. Pets who are microchipped are often reunited with their owners within a matter of hours upon arriving at a shelter, reducing stress for both the pet and their human.
FSPCA is continuing its summer sizzler adoption rates at Petco on Sunday, September 8 from noon to 3:00 p.m. Kittens are buy one get one free, cats and dogs are at least 50% off, and senior cats and dogs are only $12. All adoptions include age-appropriate shots, a microchip registered through Home Again, and many will include spay/neuter. All animals offered for adoption are adorable and highly adoptable.
In addition to low rates, Central Virginia royalty will be assisting with Sunday’s Petco Outing. The Dogwood Queen, Katie Almarode, and Little Miss Fluvanna will be on hand to tell prospective adopters all about the dogs and cats.
“Many people don’t know there’s a no-kill shelter just down the road from Charlottesville,” says Jennie Shuklis, FSPCA’s Executive Director. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to discover our mission and adopt and keep a new family member. We’re very grateful to Petco and Home Again for the opportunity to provide these valuable services..”
