More than seven in ten people with disabilities say they have been abused, according to the Disability and Abuse Project. Three Charlottesville non-profits are teaming up to protect people with disabilities in our community from sexual abuse. You can learn how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child abuse from Foothills Advocacy Center Educator Rachel Thielmann at “Preventing Abuse of Children: A Free Workshop for Parents and Educators of Children with Disabilities.” This free workshop is November 6th from 6:30 to 8:30 P-M at the Region Ten Main Office. To RSVP – call 434-924-8685 or email BRCCC@virginia.edu. The free workshop is sponsored by the Virginia Institute of Autism, Blue Ridge Care Connection for Children and the Charlottesville Region Autism Action Group.
