Chaplain’s 9th Annual Golf Classic
You have an opportunity to spend “A Day of Golf for a Lifetime of Change” and join the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry at beautiful Old Trail Golf Course in Crozet on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Check in is at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9.
Proceeds from this tournament will be used locally to continue the vital work of Chaplain Alonzo Minor in bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to inmates at the Albemarle/Charlottesville Regional Jail. “Recently, while counseling an inmate, he told me that God had delivered him from a death sentence, and that he is living witness that God can make ways out of no way,” said Chaplain Minor, who has been at the Regional Jail for nearly ten years. Albemarle County Sheriff Chip Harding states that the ministry gives inmates “a chance to reflect on their lives . . . a time to consider changing their hearts.”
The $95 per golfer fee includes greens fee, golf cart, a delicious luncheon with valuable door prizes, a silent auction, and an awards program for the best golfers. The Captain’s Choice round will recognize Overall Best Score, the Law Enforcement Challenge Winner, and the Church Challenge Winner. Contests include Closest to the Hole, Longest Drive, and the Special Charity Hole. Mulligans will be available for $20.
Not a golfer, but interested in supporting the Ministry? Event Sponsors ($300) and Hole Sponsors ($100) from generous businesses and individuals ensure the success of this event and will be recognized in event signage and in the program. We also encourage your support through our Gold, Silver, and Bronze Patrons Program for tax deductible donations of $3,000, $1,000, or $500. For a $20 donation, you may attend the after-round luncheon (begins at 1:45 p.m.) to celebrate with the golfers and friends of the Ministry and you will qualify for valuable door prizes.
