Woolen Mills Wants To Stay Historic

Jul 17, 2017 -- 7:48am

Residents in the Woolen Mills neighborhood want assurances form the city that they are not going to build a hotel or anything like that in their historic district.

John Frazee, chair of the Woolen Mills neighborhood association says construction of that nature or encroachment of the city would destroy the ambience in that historic community:

"To prevent that from happening, we wanted to make sure that we had a level of protection in place so that wasn't in a position, or as little of a position in the neighborhood as we could possibly find, but one that would find the protection we were looking for," said.

The Charlottesville City council meets tonight at 7 p.m.
