‘Supere Wood’ As Strong As Steel

(Metro) Scientists in Maryland say they’ve invented a new kind of “super wood” that’s so strong it could stop a bullet.

They claim in a new study that it’s 12 times stronger than normal wood and can be used in cars, airplanes and even body armor.

The lead researcher at the University of Maryland says the so-called super wood can be a competitor to steel or even titanium alloys.

Their study is published in the journal “Nature.”
