Algae Bloom Partially Closes Lake Anna

A harmful algae bloom has closed large sections of Lake Anna – according to the Virginia Department of Health, the North Anna and Pamunkey branches of the lake in Orange, Louisa and Spotsylvania Counties have been affected by the harmful bloom.
Advisory signs have been posted warning residents and visitors to avoid contact with the water in the affected areas until the algae concentration has returned to acceptable levels – officials will monitor water quality and advisories will be lifted after a minimum of two consecutive weeks of acceptable test results.
