The 3,837 first year students at UVA make the class of 2022 not only the largest but also the most diverse in the university’s history.
Of the nearly 4,000 new students, 1,310 are minorities and 352 are African-American – demographic figures that both represent nearly a 35 percent increase in the last five years.
The Class of 2022 also boasts of 424 of whom are first generation college students.
