Scottsville Town Council Declared State Of Emergency Ahead Of Florence

The Scottsville Town Council declared a state of emergency this past week ahead of Tropical Storm Florence coming to shore.

Florence was downgraded from a Category 1 hurricane to a tropical storm Friday afternoon as it came over North Carolina.

The Daily Progress reports Scottsville’s declaration was made Thursday to prepare for potential flooding and will expire in 30 days.

It was initially expected that the storm would have a greater impact on Virginia, although it has mostly affected the Carolinas thus far.
