Friday and Saturday are Household Hazardous Waste collection days for the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority.
These collections are free to residents of Albemarle County, Charlottesville and Scottsville from 9am to 2pm.
Eligible items include acids, antifreeze, batteries, household cleaners, pesticides, paints and solvents, and fluorescent light bulb tubes.
Bulky Waste Amnesty Days are also coming up, when the Ivy Material Utilization Center will be accepting furniture and mattresses on Oct. 6th, appliances on Oct. 13th and tires on Oct. 20th.
