UVA Wants To Buy Brandon Avenue

This week, Mayor Nikuyah Walker requested the city to produce a monetary value for Charlottesville’s Brandon Avenue.

Colette Sheehy, the senior vice president of operations at UVA expressed that the university is interested in taking ownership of the street for a new redevelopment project.

The university wants to convert Brandon Avenue into a “green street,” that would include adding a student apartment complex and a new health and wellness center.

The city is supportive of the property transfer and the terms & conditions would be subject to a final vote by city council on March 5th.
