The University of Virginia is reporting that its Academic Division spent more than $422,000 dollars on security and related expenses during the August 10th’s anniversary weekend of the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville.
According to a release, UVA spent over $259,000 dollars on labor and overtime alone, plus nearly $25,000 dollars on equipment and another $139,000 dollars on meals, lodging, training and transportation — the figure does not include any expenses incurred by the UVA Medical Center.
UVA says it has submitted paperwork to Virginia’s Department of Emergency Management with a reimbursement request.
