Four Local Counties Receive Flood Disaster Designation

On Friday, The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced that Orange and Madison are among four counties that are under primary disaster designations.
The Department issued the designations for damage and losses caused by excessive rain, flash flooding, and flooding between May 16 and June 30 of this year.
Farmers in Orange, Madison, Culpeper and Mecklenburg counties can now apply for emergency loan assistance from the USDA’s Farm Service Agency as long as they meet eligibility requirements.
Farmers have eight months from the date of the declaration to apply for emergency loans.
