Local residents have been reporting recent multiple sightings of coyotes in downtown Charlottesville — Katie Hartwell reported seeing a coyote near High Street and Altamont Circle on Saturday morning.
Hartwell says the coyote’s presence frightened two runners enough that they sought immediate shelter from the animal.
The Charlottesville Police Department is aware of the coyote sightings and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries says coyote sightings in cities are not as rare as you might think.
