Planning what to do for your 2023 Fourth of July weekend? We have prepared a list of Independence Day celebrations happening in the area:

• Charlottesville:

o There will be no fireworks display at Carter Mountain on the 4th of July this year. Celebrate Charlottesville US, the group that usually puts on the annual fireworks display, was unable to raise the money to do so this year.

o At 2pm on July 4t the Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Department will host the annual Liberty Bell ringing Ceremony at the Ridge Street Station.


• Boar’s Head:

o Where: Boar’s Head Resort (200 Ednam Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22903)

o Details: Independence Day Party from 3-9pm with yard games, food trucks, and live music – fireworks at dusk.

o Admission: Free and open to public.

When: Sunday, July 2nd


• Scottsville:

o When: July 4th

o Where: Dorrier Park (250 Page St, Scottsville, VA 24590)

o Details: Hosted by Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Scottsville. Parade startsat 9am at Truist Bank, fireworks at dusk over James River

o Admission: Free and open to public


• Crozet:

o When: Saturday, July 1

o Where: Crozet Park (1075 Claudius Crozet Pk, Crozet, VA 22932)

o Details: Celebration begins at 5:00 PM with the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department parade on Crozet Avenue to Crozet Park, followed by local live music (Ian Gilliam and the FireKings), amusements for children, food, local beer and cider, and finishing with fireworks at 9:30PM.

o Admission: A donation of $5 per person is requested upon entry. Children 9 and under are free.


• Greene County:

o When: Tuesday, July 4th

o Where: Morris Field in Ruckersville—across Route 33 from Ruckersville Elementary School

o Details: The fun will begin at 9 AM with a parade down Main Street in Stanardsville. Live music and food vendors at Morris Field starting at 3pm. Performance by award-winning country music artist Mark Willis. Fireworks display start at 9:35pm.

o Admission: Free and open to the public.


• Louisa County:

o When: Sunday, July 2nd, 12-9:30pm

o Where: Southern Revere Cellars (1100 E Jack Jouett Rd, Louisa, VA 23093)

o Details: Live music, food vendors, laser tag, and axe throwing. Professional fireworks display at 9pm.
